Our landlady has finally deigned to inform us that the renovations they were having done that "wouldn't affect" us are in fact, so Landlady & Landlord can move back into our current residence while they sell the one they currently live in. She told us she expects us to be gone by October 31st. Sherri and I have no idea how to find a new place to live in less than three weeks and frankly, are both rather doubtful that three weeks' notice is lawful, even for a non-lease, tenant-at-will arrangement. (Landlady never did seem any good at remembering that tenants have rights under the law. She deals mostly with poor people who can't afford lawyers, which might explain a bit.)
I've got no time to swear and complain about the Inequities of the Selfish. I've got to scour the Internet for the relevant legal information. Anybody got any info on places to live or places to find out the law, do tell. be well.

Have you checked in with Doc and Martha yet? Are they still in your area? (don't know if maybe they might know someone who knows someone who has a couch or something?)

hmm. a couch.
anyway, it's a good point. will check with them this weekend no doubt. Several of my co-workers offered leads on apts near them, and Sherri looked at 5 apts just on the day after we got the bad news (she moves blindingly fast sometimes)

Dropping in per [livejournal.com profile] dmnsqrl's duplicated (http://www.livejournal.com/users/dmnsqrl/204438.html) requests (http://www.livejournal.com/users/dmnsqrl/204631.html)...

Lewiston, ME laws online (http://library7.municode.com/gateway.dll/ME/maine/1?f=templates&fn=default.htm&npusername=10146&nppassword=MCC&npac_credentialspresent=true&vid=default) (from the city web page (http://ci.lewiston.me.us/)). Some mobile home stuff is in Chapter 22 article VII. Not seeing anything there at all regarding rental law, surprisingly, as the law where I am is mostly city law...

Maine laws (http://janus.state.me.us/legis/statutes/). Stuff on mobile homes is in title 10 part 11, but other than that, I didn't see anything on a quick glance.
