Hey, Catherine, how would you feel about going with me to see 'Spider-Man 2'? (I don't like to go to the movies alone. It just seems..inefficient. Maybe I just don't have enough crowd rapport, but it doesn't seem a properly social experience unless I know someone else there. Often, I don't go to the movies at all, but this film's an exception. Yes, I admit it-- I'm a comicbook geek. I am not, however, a fanboy. Naturally, only a geek would care to make such a distinction. Possibly geeks are the only people who even use the term 'fanboy'. It's hard to say. ) I read in NewsWeek that Michael Chabon wrote the plot treatment for it, and from what I've seen, the visual effects should be quite impressive. I figured with your artistic background and all, you'd be the most likely person I could find to really appreciate (or, for that matter, most authoritatively judge and pick apart) such a movie.
*shrug* Like I said, it's just a thought.
be well.

*sigh* Maybe actually keeping up with writing journal entries here would actually help me hone my journalism and nonfiction writing skills. Learning to quickly compose succinct compressions of what's happening around me could force me to function the way a reporter must. (It's one way to justify an activity that otherwise is drawn solely from my trickling "socializing" time-budget allocation.)
Temp: work work work Wedding! work
Aug. 14th, 2004 09:18 pmI'm working tommorrow, which is Sunday, of course; then Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, all 11am to 3pm, with a chance of actual hours worked extending to 4pm if a given day happens to be busy. Yay! Once again, I get as many or more hours on the week I request a day off as on any other week. My job rocks. Next saturday is Peter and Jennifer's wedding. My friend Crystal has expressed interest in coming along as my guest.
The sweltering heat is back! Oh, I'd so missed it when I couldn't leave my windows open at 4am and sleep in fresh air. God bless summer, even if I'm drinking a bottle of water in two gulps to keep up with my sweat production. be well, everybody.

Addenda: further reading
Aug. 14th, 2004 09:41 pmI forgot to explain, below, that Michael Chabon is a novelist, author of _Wonderboys_ (that became that Tobey Maguire and Michael Douglas film a few years back) and _The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay_, which was listed as Catherine's 'Last Great Book I Read' in her profile. It's a well-written 600-page contemporary historical novel about people who write and draw comicbooks when they're not busy falling in love with Rosa Saks or experiencing guilt and angst.
